Pak Beng Power Donates to Flood-Affected Areas in Laos
On October 2, Pak Beng Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Datang in Laos, donated KIP200 million (around RMB64,300) through the Lao Ministry of Energy and Mines to assist flood victims in their recovery efforts. Khammany Inthirath, the Minister of Energy and Mines, accepted the donation on behalf of the Lao government, noting that the generous support from China Datang greatly encouraged flood-affected individuals in their efforts to rebuild.
Laos has recently faced significant flooding due to ongoing tropical depressions and typhoons Prapiroon and Yagi. While ensuring its own operational safety, Pak Beng Power has actively taken on its corporate responsibilities. Following an earlier donation of relief supplies to Luang Namtha Province, the worst-hit area by the floods, on September 22, the company has now made this monetary contribution to support the local government's disaster relief initiatives.
During the donation ceremony, Wu Tao, General Manager of Pak Beng Power, conveyed the concern and support from China Datang. He emphasized the company's commitment to collaborating with various sectors of Lao society to tackle the challenges posed by the disaster. This assistance reflects the strong friendship between China and Laos, grounded in mutual support during difficult times.
Minister Khammany Inthirath expressed his appreciation for Pak Beng Power's generous contribution and highlighted that China Datang has consistently offered selfless aid to Laos. "The Pak Beng project is of great political, economic, and social significance in Laos. Despite the disaster, the construction of the project's sediment monitoring system continued without interruption, showcasing the company’s robust professional capabilities. We look forward to deepening our friendship and cooperation with Pak Beng Power for mutual development in the future", he said.
